  1. Love Whalen’s stuff. If I had kids I’d pick this up for their wall for sure.

CanNOT imagine having that “It’s Alive” on my wall. Eek.

  2. It’s not that odd a pairing. Both films center on tykes born with abnormalities which wind up granting them special abilities. In Dumbo it’s the power of flight. In It’s Alive it’s the power of killing folks really savagely despite being only a baby.

  3. Rob is exactly right. Very similar films.
I read somewhere once that Dumbo was originally meant to be a bit darker and that everything that was happening was just in his head and at the end he was just a caged circus elephant who went through some sort of psychotic break.
Clearly left out of the final cut but it would’ve been an interesting twist. Like an elephant version of Fight Club.

  6. Got my daughter a Dumbo poster.

  7. +1 Dumbo

I have this weird feeling that “It’s Alive” might be available for a while…

  8. aaaaand i stand corrected

  9. missed dumbo, dammit. my mondo mojo really needs to get working again. congrats to the scorers!

  10. I say Tom Whalen’s style and Disney go together like PB & J.

Not in any way my style but man he knocks it out of the park with these posters.

  11. Man that print is terrifying….

    …Those ears are gigantic!

  12. x^D Nice one, DylanXVX

  13. what I love about Whalen’s work is his use of colour and typography, he’s my kind of illustrator, very striking, straightforward design. Shame I don’t really like much Disney stuff, apart from The Black Hole, now where’s that print…!
You’ve got to be one dark muthafucka to have that ‘It’s Alive’ up in your house… 😀 nice illustration though!

  14. Well I think there is definitely a horror movie fan scene that wouldn’t mind having that print up. I love the fact that through an image the artist was able to either scare you, creep you out, or move you enough to say “whoa, I’d never hang that in my house”. I respect that.

  15. Worst buttcrack ever. Sad I missed this one.
