“Aloha” Art Print by Rafa Jenn

The mysterious Rafa Jenn is back with another rad art print. “Aloha” is a 12″ x 22″ screenprint, has an edition of 24, and costs $39. Check out his explanation below. To purchase, visit RafaJenn.com.

This piece went through numerous potential titles. I finally settled on ‘Aloha’. I thought it was appropriate, given that it means both, ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’. It also hints at the subject’s tropical origin. The progression of a single banana shifting, day after day, from yellow to black is a subtle process– but the arrangement of it’s incremental evolution is rather striking indeed. ‘Aloha’ follows in the footsteps of ‘Hypothetically Speaking’, not only because of it’s minimalist scheme, but also because of it’s thematic exploration of the life and death dynamic.

  1. Simple, beautiful.

  2. its a banana.

  3. Oh for God’s sake.

  4. +1 on this. Silly, yet elementally and graphically cool. And that it reminds me of The Velvet Underground can only be a good thing.
