Mark Ryden’s “Silence” Art Print

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, aka MOCA, has just released a stunning new Mark Ryden art print.  “Silence” is a 22″ x 28″ screenprint, has an edition of 50, and is currently priced at $6,000 (though they may be out of them, they were down to their last 20 yesterday).  All proceeds from the print go to benefit MOCA.  Here is some more info about the print:

“Produced especially for MOCA, this wonderful artwork is a near perfect reproduction of an original Ryden painting. Meticulously crafted, printed on finely handmade paper from Bhutan, and carefully dyed and aged, the work is completed by two embossings created in the final process—a beautifully hand-sculpted bee and the printer’s chops into the corners.”

To purchase, give MOCA a call at (213) 633-5318.  For more info, check out the Sour Harvest Blog.

  1. Six grand?!? Man, I guess the economy isn’t so bad after all.

  2. $6000 Big Ones, huh?!

  3. I’m pretty sure it is $600…the Brown Bear and General Shermans were around that price

  4. Nope, $6,000 seems right. It’s limited to 50 while Brown Bear was an edition of 500.

  5. Certainly the prices are going up though – Regina Gloriae Naturae (s&n ed. of 60 approx 2 years ago) was $3,000 and that was larger and came framed!

  6. The economy is bad, and that’s the reason this print exists:

  7. The economy may be bad but don’t forget that there is art collectors out there that have money.$6k is considered pocket change to some.

  8. What do you guys think of the image? Ryden’s strongest in some time?

  9. a bargain i say! i’ll take 2!

  10. If the MOCA is going broke then they are definitely doing something wrong. The Murakami exhibition alone should have carried them through the year.

  11. Doesn’t seem like it’s worth $6,000 to me. I didn’t realize Ryden prints cost more than Murakami’s. Did I miss the Ryden retrospective at the MOCA? maybe when they go bankrupt they’ll have an out-of-business print sale.

  12. Ryden is certainly as big as Murakami. He has had pieces sell for up to a million dollars.

Numerous Ryden prints have already been around this price and sold out instantly, I’m sure they will do just fine.

  13. I disagree. Ryden is not 5% as big as Murakami

  14. I say he is 88.5% as big.

  16. this print is very familiar a winning formula for me personaly i love it, i would pay 6 grand for the original, its all realative, i have no job and a family, if only i still believed in santa

  17. Sorry, I’m a little late. I just surfed in.

The monkey is saying “silence” in Russian. In roman letters it would be transliterated, “molchanie.”
