Quick Notes

Got a few minutes to use the internet, so I thought I’d make some quick notes about new prints that have popped up for sale.

-Grant Barnhart has a new art print called “In the Beginning” available.  It’s a 22″ x 30″ screenprint, has an edition of 40, and is $200 (or $350 framed).  The print features hand-applied portions, making each one unique.  Check it out at GrantBarnhart.net.

-BLK/MRKT Gallery just released a new print by Evan Hecox.  “El Centro” is a 19″ x 25″ screenprint, has an edition of 100, and is $175.  Visit BLKMRKTGallery.com.

  1. “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!”

  2. I am tired of that color, VW Bug and Taco wagons and will pass. I am Not puttin his amazing work down in any manner, just not feeling it this time.

  3. Personally I think this is the nicest Hecox I have seen in awhile. The imagery is a little recycled, but I think it looks better in this print than previous editions from the series. I’m guessing that it is in the same general area of the city. There is also a lot going on in this one compared to earlier pieces. I only hesitated for a few seconds before pulling the trigger, but I am weak

  4. I think this Hecox is his best to date. Nice balance and color.

  5. this blog is hazardous to my wallet, but i am so psyched to have just ordered myself one of the hecox prints.

  6. “A little recycled”?!?! I’d say A LOT recycled.

  7. So is a lot of Tool’s music.

  8. hes got a new one thats not beat up at arkitip…

  9. Tone, the blk/mrkt print is a much better value and has much stronger imagery

    Arkitip’s print:
    16″x20″
    edition of 200
    $125

    BLK/MRKT’s print:
    19″x25″
    edition of 100
    $175

the quality of BLK/MRKT’s prints are superior to Arkitip

  10. The Artkip has been up for some time – He use to sell out in minutes.
I have been and seen to watch and its still available !

  11. The arktip one def not as strong. I think the BLK/MRKT has been sitting a bit because of the $175 price tag, but it will sell out and people will regret not jumping on it if price was the hesitation factor.

  12. I am not sure about regretting it – The image has been done before, the feel and the colors done before.
If you want to flip it thats the top end of his price range so there is no margin in it for a business buy. Not so sure anyone will kick themselves.
On a positive note I personally like the “busyness” of the print and think he’s an amazing creator but the price is to high for prints I have of his that are to similar. Its a step to near for a higher price.

  13. IF YOU THINK HIS IMAGERY IS REPEATATIVE, MAYBE YOURE UNAWARE HE DRAWS LANDSCAPES AND CITIES IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES, SOMETHING THAT GENERALLY DOESNT CHANGE OVER THE COURSE OF A SINGLE YEAR. WOULD YOU PREFER HE DRAW PUPPIES? BEEFLOAF THINKS THE PRINT IS BEEEYYUUUTIFUL, EVEN IF IT DOESNT GLOW IN THE DARK. Y’ALLS IS STRAIGHT TRIPPIN

  14. This is now my favourite Hecox print. You can sense the progression from the red dominated earlier Mexican pieces. I just feel that this has a lot more to offer and is a more interesting picture. I have bought it and it will grace one of my rooms.

  15. $175 is the top end? I’ve been trying to get a Mexico city print for under $300 for awhile. This ones 3 more colors and a larger format. I think this will double in value in no time.
That being said, although I’m not opposed to re selling art, this suckers wall worthy and is hitting the framers immediately.

  16. I love this print. That’s all I want to say.

  17. Dam !!!
I have gone back and relooked and looked and I am soooo weak that I have bagged one. Dam dam I promised myself I was stronger.

Its the Swaye comment of “This ones 3 more colors and a larger format”
Now I hope I can be proved wrong in my last comments – How easily the worm turned.

  18. Love it. This piece epitomizes Evan’s style. The line art, the hand painted signage, the subject matter, it’s all there. I wish it were even bigger.

  19. Please don’t whine when you don’t make money on this print Sacha.

  20. Grants new shit is rad, they’re individually painted with a couple base layers of screen print. I seen em i real life, they’re awesome.

  21. I LIKE THE EVAN HECOX PRINT VERY MUCH, AND HAVE PURCHASED IT.

  22. Still there – He cant shift 200 of them

  23. THEY LIMITED THEM TO ONE PURCHASE EACH. I BELIEVE THIS HAS LIMITED THE FLIPPERS SOMEWHAT.

  24. Sacha,
it’s not an edition of 200

  25. HECOX=SOLD OUT
