The Bled Poster by Anonymous Ink & Idea

I am becoming quite the fan of Austin’s Anonymous Ink & Idea. His new poster for The Bled is an 18″ x 24″ screenprint, has an edition of 75, and costs $25. Visit his shop.

  1. Like it, bought it. However looks just like the head in Dave Hunter’s Decemberists poster.

  2. Yea, I love those old anatomy etchings… thanks for the purchase Steve. :) I really appreciate it.

  3. Pretty sure that’s because it’s based on a classic medical textbook illustration, something like this one, can’t find the exact one at the moment though: http://www.yungmd.com/downloads/images/headneck2.jpg
Inspired this gig poster as well I think: http://www.yungmd.com/downloads/images/headneck2.jpg

  4. I ordered it because I love the band and dig the print, but after looking at Dave Hunter’s print.. I may cancel it. That is the exact same head… Not sure how I feel about that.

  5. This is the same head from the Human Tree t-shirt that Alan wore in the Hangover.

  6. And the t-shirt that Alan wears in The Hangover -http://www.80stees.com/products/Human-Tree-Hangover-T-Shirt.asp

  7. Don’t worry, noone is ripping off anyone else. It’s one of the most famous anatomy images ever produced. It’s on at least 5 other concert posters.

  8. Hey everyone. This is a vintage illustration from an Anatomy source book I have… as someone mentioned above. It’s definitely been used before, but that’s not uncommon in printmaking. Many artists (myself included) like using these old engraving and illustrations in our work… and often, the good ones are used again and again. You might be surprised how frequently. This shouldn’t spoil anything for anyone. A lot of love and time still went into this print..including the “re-grouting” of all those veins…as they were much to thin and muddy to get what I wanted in the end. Thanks to all those who like it . :) Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. I appreciate the info guys. I can’t wait to get it framed and on the wall.
