Martin Ansin in Wired Magazine

My good friend Mike Isaac sent over info about some nice Martin Ansin illustrations in the current issue of Wired.  You might remember Mike as being the great guy that will eventually do some writing for the site.  That may still happen eventually, but they’ve got him pretty busy over at Forbes.  Anyway, here’s what he had to say about it, with scans below.  Enjoy!

If you don’t spend enough time on Facebook already, October 1st brings the North American wide release of “The Social Network”, the heavily-discussed biopic based on the founding of the social media internet giant. There’s a story on what went into creating the film in the most recent issue of WIRED, with accompanying illustrations by OMGPosters favorite, Martin Ansin (the latest issue of The New Yorker has a very good write-up on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as well, albeit without the excellent illustrations). As of this post, the magazine content isn’t posted to WIRED’s website yet, so pick the October issue up from newsstands now to see Ansin’s work. Or, if you want to hunt through your stack of old pornos in the basement, check out the June 2010 issue of Playboy for Ansin’s rendition of Wayne Coyne in the magazine’s interview with The Flaming Lips frontman.

If you missed the Mondotees drop for his “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” poster, the WIRED piece might tide you over till next time.

  1. Amazing. I was thinking of picking up a subscription too (they are amazingly cheap), and this may push me over the edge.

  2. There’s also a Tomer Hanuka illustration in that issue as well.

  3. Martin is a superb illustrator so it’s not surprising in the least to see more and more of his work appearing in major publications.
I do like that he’s “one of ours” though. Here’s hoping that as he rises to fame and fortune he continues to spoil us poster geeks with beautiful art to drool over for years to come. 😉

  4. Mike Isaac drinks buffalo urine … no really, it’s true.

Nice post, love that Ansin’s getting good gigs. Very talented guy.

  5. 13 – Whatever you may think of the magazine’s editorial content (which I enjoy on the whole), the design choices and contracted illustrators make WIRED well worth subscribing to.

It’s funny to me that the first thing I ever saw of Ansin’s was his “Space Seed” Star Trek thing (probably through OMGP), and I wasn’t that impressed. Now, looking back over his oeuvre and seeing what new work he’s been putting out, I realize the error of my ways.

jon (pewter) – it was only the one time.
