  1. that first one is a wannabe sylvia ji

  2. pretty awesome prize/contest though. Paper+Plastick is a pretty great label too, really focuses on the art and entire packaging in addition to the music formats

  3. Oh Brian…stick to the skulls please.

  4. I expected to get a few comparisons to Ji’s work. I made sure to not look at her work (or Mike Giant’s) while I worked on the series. It’d be too easy to swipe from them. I see it happen a lot.
I spent a lot of time researching Dia de los Muertos and the way sugar skulls and paper mache skulls were decorated. Then applied that to the way I drew the make up.

  5. the day of the dead doesn’t rock it for me…not sure why. maybe cause i just did one too :)

but that last image is great brian. nice work.

  6. Well Glad to hear that u did your own thing.. I appreciate that..

  7. would really like that 8×10 without the watch.

  8. I got to check out Brian’s studio when I was in New York. The original drawing is really awesome (tight, tight inking) and I like this series that Brian is doing. The watch is also awesome.

  9. i just think it is super cool of Brian Ewing to contribute to the talk backs. it must be frustrating for any artist to work with iconography or the like that has been around and amalgamated for years, but currently somehow exclusive by awareness from another artist (Ji). i think the Black Curse print came out pretty great
