Tyler Stout’s The Monster Squad Poster (Onsale Info)

The Alamo Drafthouse had a huge screening with the cast/creators of The Monster Squad last weekend, and they asked their good buddy Tyler Stout to do the poster for it.  The main version is a 24″ x 36″ screenprint, has an edition of 450, and will be $40.  There is also a blue variant with an edition of 100 for $80.  Both go up today (Tuesday, January 12th) at a random time.  Keep an eye on Mondotees.com.

  1. Just wondering, but is the date on the poster messed up? This happened last weekend right?

  2. Time warp edition.

  3. HAHAHAHA!!!!

  4. Got ‘em!

  5. FYI…up now

  6. I like the red better, and it’s half the price. It’s so tempting sitting there tho. The one thing I hate about Stouts posters is that I have to make a choice whether to pony up the cash and buy them from mondo unsigned for a higher price, but have that certainty that I got it, or hope I can be online when Tyler puts his up. Had to go ahead and get this one from Mondo as this is one of my all time favorite movies. Love it.

  7. Nice poster. Site was running very slow…

1 per on regs, wonder how many they had.

  8. got my regular. too bad the variant sold out so quickly.

  9. was there any chance for someone on the west coast to purchase these? kind of a bummer they went on sale so early.

  10. yeah, the drop time kind of sucked for us west coasters. looks like those of us that missed out will be doing battle with tyler’s site sometime next week.

  11. can’t believe they are already gone, ridiculous.

  12. I’m bummed I missed this; it would have been the perfect wedding present for my buddy. I need to stop checking this blog so late in the day. Ho-Hum!

  13. yes, two mistakes on this posters, the R rating (its actually PG-13) and the 2009 date. both of these are 100% my fault. these needed to be at the Alamo Saturday, and i finished them up Thursday morning at 7AM and sent them to my screenprinter, so no one had a chance to doublecheck my info.

the good news is they were printed and shipped in 1 day and they arrived at the event on time. obviously the bad new is those two major mistakes, which drive me crazy more than anyone, especially the date since in a few years i’ll start thinking it was in 2009 instead of 2010, not remembering i made the mistake. i’m sure there’s a lesson to be learned here somewheres.

glad people like them, one of my favorite movies from the 80’s, just the idea alone is awesome, a movie that had all the classic hollywood monsters combined.

  14. Tyler, I was SO excited to see this yesterday on ebay and ebeans. I’ve never been more excited for one of your posters as this movie is at the top of my list from the era. Just an amazing poster for an amazing movie. As a graphic designer I’ve made the date mistake already a few times this year (luckily on small jobs that were rushed).

  15. Guess you’ll(tyler) have to make a corrected version. Or one with more errors. I prefer the latter.

  16. Can’t believe these are already up on ebay, it is really a shame when people snatch everything up just to turn around and sell it for profit. Another amazing piece, prolly one of my favorites of all time…wish I could have been one of the few to grab one and really appreciate it.

  17. Agreed, the amount of these on eBay is a little ridiculous. People really need to scramble that hard to make like $50?

  18. like 7 on Ebay already!!

  19. Wow all already gone.. Sux for the rest of us west coasters.. Gonna wait for tylers signed and numbered editions later..

  20. I can’t believe I missed this.
My favorite childhood movie. (Goonies – Pirates = Monster Squad) = amazing.
    Great poster Tyler.

  21. Mitch,

Is the blue on the variant metallic?

  22. Well T if it makes you feel any better, I don’t think anyone’s looking at the date or Rating!

    Good job!

  23. Jesus, 450 gone in no time.
Fekk! I need one, it’s one of my favorite, have it on VHS, bootleg DVD, legal DVD and Blu Ray.

  24. very unfortunate that people have to buy them up and sell them on ebay for double the price…
