Reminds me of Charley Harper’s “Brrrrthday” print.

I like this one better.
THAT’S THE MOST OBVIOUS BITE I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME.
I’d be interested to hear what Mike has to say about that Harper piece comparison.
honestly, never heard of or seen harper’s work before someone posted a link in the expresso beans comments.
this piece has been in my head for a while and directly reflects the bond that i have with my 6 month old boy.
it’s natural for people to state it’s a rip, because that’s the easy thing to do in the art world.
it’s a penguin print, i’m sure there will be plenty more in the future.
When I first saw Mike’s print on thisisn’thappiness this morning I was a bit surprised because it’s also quite similar to the one we have created as Popdesign’s new year card…

and of course, we hadn’t seen either Mike’s or Harper’s version, which I discovered only now!
I think it goes to show that, as Mike says, this is just a great subject for a penguin print and it’s not that strange that different people will interpret it without being aware of each other. I have seen plenty of works based on similar ideas while cruising artists’ websites, and that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are copying one another! BTW, Happy New Year…
