Jimbot at 88Point5

88Point5, Gallery 1988’s online-only gallery, is currently hosting a show by Milwaukee artist Jimbot.  His style is a bit too close to Jeff Soto at times, but perhaps he’ll grow out of that eventually.  The prices are reasonable and the paintings are large.  Visit 88Point5.com.

  1. Not too surprising, Gallery 1988 now seems to have a habit forming of showing art from artists that are too close to others in style. Maybe they think that will help sell the work?

  2. They also show super young artists from what I know of them. Everything starts at influence then grows into their own

  3. I LOVE Jimbot’s work. I think he put together an amazing show, and I can’t believe how affordable the art is! I can see how he may have been influenced by Soto, but his style is his own. His line work and eye for detail is incredible, and I love his color choices. If I had any extra money at all, I would definitely make a purchase.

  4. Just logged on to this site and read the comments. One person commented on how the art of Jimbot looked like the art work of Jeff Soto. Although similar, the Soto artwork is much darker, both in color and imagery. The Jimbot artwork is lighter and whimsical. Very imaginative and I like the color combination used in his works. Although his work may change, I think this guy has a great eye for detail that enhances the total image. It’s nice to see this type of artwork that isn’t all doom and gloom.

  5. Still a BIG FAN of jimbot!! This has always been his style, as far as I can tell!

  6. Did Jimbot just call all his friends a minute ago or what?

  7. For the record, I don’t know Jimbot personally. I’m just an art fan, and I check out your site from time to time to find out what’s new.
