“King of Crabs” Art Print by Tim Doyle

Tim Doyle has followed up his successful Squid print with a brand new one, this time featuring a giant crab.  “King of Crabs” is an 18″ x 24″ screenprint, has an edition of 150, and is $30.  There is also a line art variant with an edition of 10 for $50.  Visit NakatomiInc.com.

Doyle was also featured (along with other superstar Texans like Decoder Ring) in a recent Austin Chronicle article about screenprinting.  Check it out HERE.

  1. I like this series so far….the colors rock. Maybe the next one could be jellyfish fighting f15 tomcats in the air.

  2. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

  3. curb rocks

  5. This is obviously a reference from the “Watchmen” graphic novel – guy with the sign, kid reading a comic book next to a hotdog stand (at first glance looks like the news stand from the comic). And the colors of course.

  6. ACTUALLY- I put the ‘end is nigh’ guy in there, which is a pretty well-known thing that pre-dates watchmen, BUT, once I did, it reminded me of Watchmen, and I couldn’t help but put the reading kid in there. Wish I could say I know EXACTLY what I’m going to draw when I start a print, but on things like this, so much of it is stream of consciousness, that the random connections my brain makes make it onto the page.

  7. Just to be clear – I really like it, it’s fun to look at, you could almost see it moving. And I love pop culture references (well this one in particular is known in a smaller scale, but still).
It’s great having this kind of making things up as you go, the road from A to B is a wonderous one.

  8. Really enjoy your work Tim!!!

  9. I just bought one and man I can’t wait. Tim….this is such a BAD ASS print. Your art is getting so much better each time you produce something new. Awesome. And this will go next to the squid print (facing each other, of course). Damn, my wall is going to rock.

  10. Elad- oh, no slight inferred!
