“Overnighter” Art Print by Mark Brabant

Mark Brabant’s newest art print takes a different direction stylistically, one that I’m definitely liking more than his usual work.  “Overnighter” is a 15″ x 24″ screenprint, has an edition of 200, and is $40.  Visit HoveringObject.com.

  1. I dig this. I hope Brabant continues in this direction for a while.

  2. I like this.

  3. Best Brabant yet.. Love the toad in the door.

  4. Eh. It’s different, sure, but still looks photoshopped in a matter of minutes. There’s far nicer work coming out this week. $40 is FAR too much for this anyways.

  5. I love the image. Couldn’t pass up on this. My third Brabant.

  6. Just curious, how does it look photoshopped? I am indifferent to this print so I am just curious since i hear that term thrown around a bit, i know what photoshop is etc but what specifically makes it look photoshopped, thx

  7. Like the shift in color, love the image but the froh kills it for me. I would have loved to hang this one – but that damned frog . . .!

  8. The crunchy over-contrasted photos/clip art in his other work didn’t hold water for me (compared other artists who are actually drawing their images), so It’s nice to see that he’s working in a new direction instead of continuing to try mimicking a Danger or McCarthy layout. It seemed like the previous prints took under ten minutes to posterize and separate, and this one looks like it tastefully retained some of the photographic integrity (as if they were loosely based on the Small Stakes posters for Bonnie “Prince” Billy or Mark Kozelek). It’s pretty clear that he’s not trying to do anything original visually, but rather contextually. That said, I was about to buy it until I noticed the frog.

  9. I think this is actually less effort than his past work. 90% of the image is a singular photograph he most likely lifted off someones photobucket account. Is that real integrity?

  10. Yeah, you’re right…I guess I was only trying to be nice. Honestly, maybe I just like that it was once a great photograph that someone pasted a child and a frog into. I could be wrong, but something about the perspective and the contrast on the child doesn’t seem right.
