Mark Ryden’s “Tree of Mystery” Art Print (Onsale Info)

Holeeeee crap, this is crazy.  Later this week, Mark Ryden will release an art print that most of us will never own, but would probably do about anything for.  “Tree of Mystery” is a 21.25″ x 28.25″ giclee (plus letterpress title) in a hand-carved wood frame, has a tiny edition of 40, and will be $4000.  These go up Thursday, May 28th at 8am PST.  Visit PorterhouseArt.com.

  1. it will cost WHAT???

  2. YEEEHAAAAWWWW!!!!!! I’ll take em all!!!!!!! Wherz my credit card…….. AWESOME!!!

  3. In this economy?

    E

  4. I guess you only deserve this print if you got a bonus from AIG this year.

  5. Furthermore, if I had 4 grand to lay down on a framed print I would more than expect special handling and I wouldn’t expect to pay for it. The website mentions the “special shipping costs” – seriously? If I pay you 4 grand for a print you should cover the shipping – that is totally cheap.

  6. yeah, 4 gr is too many.

  7. Gone in under 30 minutes…maybe even 15. Probably a bunch of folks will be left shut out.

    I love the frame.

  8. Im living off the dollar menu so I’ll pass

  9. I got one delivered to my house by Mark Ryden himself. He even engraved ” To Kevin, my favorite artist” on the frame. I didn’t have the wall space, so I respectfully declined.

  10. ahhahha I love Kevin Tong.

  11. no matting? I hope for 4g he did a good job sealing the frame. would be a shame to sabotage his own hard work.

  12. @ mattCTRL – I’m guessing some spacers made of gold :)

  13. It’s a lot of money, but I’m sure it’s absolutely stunning in person…

  14. lol @ Kevin

  15. Yoswers,
A Damien Hirst print went on sale recently and if I recall correctly, it costs less than this, i think wasnt framed though and not letterpressed, and bigger edition, blah blah and ugly compared to this nice work but if you are comparing price and future ROI…..

  16. It will still sell out

  17. Don’t worry guys, this won’t be the last time Mark Ryden will remind you of your place in life.

  18. An etching or sketch would have been justified for $4k. Would prefer to invest in Murakami or a Hirst print. It will sell out, but an average release from Mark.

  19. The frame is really neat but the image is quite muddy…perhaps that is the photo’s fault. Looks like it was very carefully crafted overall.

  20. I saw Ryden and wife at a recent event….

  21. PS: 4K is just crazy.

  22. I HAVE NOT DECIDED WHETHER OR NOT I WILL PURCHASE THIS PRINT. I LIKE IT, BUT I THINK IT IS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE.
