Three New Art Prints by Mike Giant

Mike Giant just released three new art prints, so I’m a very happy blogger today.  If you’re not familiar with Mike’s work, I suggest you look into it.  He is impressively meticulous, especially considering he does all of his drawings with Sharpee, no sketches first, and no white-out.  His originals are getting pretty pricey, so it’s nice to see he’s still producing new screenprints.  All of the info is below, be sure to check out MikeGiant.com.

“Eddie”

18″ x 24″ Screenprint, Edition of 50, $70:

“Eddie Two”

18″ x 24″ Screenprint, Edition of 50, $70:

“Gang Girls”

20″ x 20″ Screenprint, Edition of 50, $70:

Also, Vans just launched their official collaboration with Mike Giant’s clothing brand, Rebel8.  There are three shoe models and a t-shirt available now in the Van’s online shop.  For more info, visit Vans.com.

  1. I got all excited for a second thinking the Eddie prints were Derek Riggs prints.. not so sure about a direct copy of Riggs’ artwork, replicated with sharpie or not :\

  2. MIKE GIANT IS GOD!

  3. Did he do the 80’s Iron Maiden album covers ?

  4. Sacha, no – as Brendan has mentioned – Derek Riggs was the creator of Ed the Head.
Unfortunately Iron Maiden incorporated gave him the heave-ho, and probably have “intellectual copyright” or some such nonsense going on their side, so Riggs has had to give up his little zombie bambino….

“Iron Maiden’s management came across the painting and realised it could be adapted for their own use. Asking for a new version with some added hair on the figure, they acquired their first cover for the debut Iron Maiden album, released in 1980. Riggs went on to work with Iron Maiden throughout the 1980s and into the 90s, creating many of their most famous album covers; his final artwork for Iron Maiden was the concept for their Brave New World album in 2000. After his concept art for “The Wicker Man” single was turned down he gave up designing for the band. He has since provided artwork for their new compilation of works from earlier in their career Somewhere Back in Time.”

  5. His prices have doubled! Considering the new prices, you guys would be better off getting something like this:

  6. “Gang Girls” is mildly interesting.

  7. meatloaf – i dont agree. I think gang girls is a way better print, at half the edition (50 vs. 100) and $24 cheaper.

But it depends what you like more i guess…girls or fish.

  8. dig the girls pic but “MSx13″ i dunno about that. not a big fan of MS
