Ten Questions With Andrio Abero
Haven’t done a Ten Questions in awhile, so let’s get back into it. Here is a guy that flies so far under the radar, it’s almost criminal. He is seriously talented and underrated. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Andrio Abero.
Age: 28
Location: Brooklyn, NY

Years Doing Posters: 8

Favorite Poster / Art Print You’ve Done: I was pretty happy with the Death Cab for Cutie at the Key Arena in Seattle poster back in 2006. I spent a lot of time trying different directions. What I came up with was surprising and beautiful. The design was heavily inspired by the British design studio Non-Format.

All-time Favorite Poster / Art Print that Someone Else Did: Mat Daly’s Vandermark Five/tsunami wave print is so amazingly simple yet technically insane. Gorgeous print.

Music Currently In Rotation: Resident Advisor podcast, Buzzin’ Fly Radio show, Jamie Lidell, Fleet Foxes, “Purple Rain” by Prince and the Revolution
Last Print, Poster, or Toy Bought: A limited edition print from the artist Von for his solo show at the Espeis Gallery in Williamsburg.

Art Hanging On Your Walls: Nothing right now. I just moved into a new apartment, but when I’m all settled in I’ll have a “Panic Now” print by Shawn Wolfe, Mat Daly’s Vandermark Five poster, a Mogwai poster by Jeff Kleinsmith and a handful of paintings by Jesse Ledoux to start.

Upcoming Stuff: Nothing too big on the horizon, but I just got back from a month long project at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland for Starbucks, designed Mitch Hedberg’s last album for Comedy Central Records, released early September, and finished up a bunch of illustration work through the London based illustration representatives, Dutch Uncle. It’s been an insane summer, so I’m looking forward to taking it easy.

Words of Wisdom: Do what you love.

The man has good taste in posters.
He has better taste in comedians.
I remember seeing the Hedberg cover in an allmusic.com e-mail, and I was like, “that’s hot…who did it?” Way to go, sir.
Andrio is super-talented.
is it me or is this guy’s website kind of a nightmare?
a nightmare to some, a dream for others
RIP Mitch – great design for that CD.
