“Nurikabe” Art Print by Andrew Bell

I stumbled across this little art print by Andrew Bell, and I’m liking it.  “Nurikabe” is a tiny 5″ x 5″ giclee, has an edition of 50, and is $20.  You can pick one up at DeadZebra.com.

  1. I’m surprised this one is still up for sale. Andrew Bell is great. Check out his creaturesinmyhead.com website for new creatures every couple of days.

  2. I really like this print. The colors work real well

  3. So what’s the deal with the skulls? Is the creature crushing people when they follow the direction arrow? I kinda like this…might have to pick it up…

The nurikabe (ぬりかべ) is a yōkai, or spirit, from Japanese folklore. It manifests as a wall that impedes or misdirects walking travelers at night. Trying to go around is futile as it extends itself forever. Knocking on the lower part of the wall makes it disappear.

  5. Awesome. Thanks for the research!
