Ten Questions With The Little Friends Of Printmaking

For today’s Ten Questions, I wrangled up the amazing midwestern design duo The Little Friends of Printmaking.  Great design, great people.  Enjoy.

Age: Too old for this shit.

Location: Milwaukee, Wisc.

Years Doing Posters: 5.

Favorite Poster / Art Print You’ve Done: Wait a minute, did that say 5 years? Suddenly I’m terribly depressed about everything we’ve done. We could’ve joined the peace corps or something. We should’ve started an organic farm. I could’ve had a baby goat. And a donkey with a hat.

All-time Favorite Poster / Art Print that Someone Else Did: My favorite one that I own is this one by Art Chantry:

Music Currently In Rotation: “Bust that Nut (downtown mix)” by Poopee & The N.Y. Squirrels, from a 12”. “The Rhinohead (Pilooski Edit)” by Von Südenfed, also from a 12”. Marcos Valle’s “Garra” LP. “Red Lady” by Phil Cordell, from a 7”. The new Hercules and Love Affair LP. “Prisencolinensinainciusol” by Adriano Celentano, from a 7”.

Last Print, Poster, or Toy Bought: Toys which I have recently bought:

  1. Eric So’s Subsonic figure (I made sure to get the one with the frowny face, which suits my disposition / world view) – SIGNED! I was looking for this one for years. This is one of the first toys I ever wanted.
  2. Chogokin To-Fu Oyako. Thank god it has a head that opens up to hold all the extra pieces. I hate when toys don’t have that. It’s basically one of the most perfect toys we own. It would be very hard to improve.
  3. Nendoroid Kemeko Plus, which is this lady from an anime that I have never seen. I just like her suit.

We have to work very hard to not buy so much stuff that our place looks like PeeWee’s Playhouse. It’s a sickness.

Art Hanging On Your Walls: We only hang our own work up. Plus mirrors.

Upcoming Stuff: We have an upcoming exhibition at Kong in Mexico City called “Mind Gangsters.” We have one coming up at Threadless in Chicago, called “Tough Luck,” as well as one at Hot Pop in Milwaukee, which does not yet have a title because we are not title machines. I suggest you go to all of them. We have to.

Words of Wisdom: Learn to say “NO.” NO NO NO NO NO.

Grab all the LFOP stuff you can handle at their Etsy store.
