  1. i wonder if shepard designs all of these still?

  2. I think Evan Hickox or Dan McCarthy did the power lines ;)

I don’t feel Shep’s touch as strongly anymore- and I think the messages are too overt. I liked it better when OG prints left us wondering…

  3. Yeah, this will be another Obey print that will take hours and hours to sell out.

  4. it seems like he keeps a background and applies different images on top anymore too.

  5. I like clip art too, but goddamn…

  6. i thought war was over…
I’d hit it. Although i don’t think he needed to add the billboard.
You don’t have to be slapped in the face with the meaning to get it.
I’m also not sure what that truss is doing…

  7. fuck, i really should have added helicopters to my pinback print. such a fantastic idea.

  8. Danny is right. The helicopter is totally unnecessary. This one ain’t bad otherwise.

  9. let me guess…next week will see a portrait of a minority.

  10. Man, what a critical bunch. I think this print is badass.
Nice follow-up to War Is Over.

  11. Without the military ‘copter this could be a picture of a prison or an inner city school or a tribute to air-traffic controllers(not that they don’t deserve it). Like the billboard too, propaganda with a touch of humor.

  12. ^ I guess you’d be more comfortable with a portrait of a caucasian.

  13. I like the sky!

  14. OH, The same sky he used in these sunsets are to die for. Yeah it was kind of cool the first time he used it.

  15. I like cheese.

  16. I can’t get past his extremely unique titles.

  17. An Andre where the Big Brother billboard would make this one excellent.

  18. Wait sorry………That was another print he did.

  19. Danger: whats with leaving snide remarks each week?
what did shepard fairey do to you?
except create the market which made it possible for you to BE daniel danger.

not that they arent correct, not that they arent deserving of said remarks
you of course have the RIGHT to do this, but let me tell you:

-you’re losing the respect (and eventually the dollar) of the people who’ve purchased your art when they see you leaving these quips.

  20. ^ I agree. leave the snide remarks to us. ;) but seriously, I think the point is valid.

  21. Maybe Daniel is just trying out a little tough love. It might be good for Shep to hear other artists say he needs to try a little harder.

  22. shepard fairey totally made DD famous :-X

    This print sucks

  23. There’s about ten people that talked shit about this print, why isn’t Daniel allowed to?

  24. They are probably just wishing that Daniel Danger spends more time getting his prints up for sale than he does taking the piss on Shepard Fairey.

  25. What’s wrong with Daniel critiquing Shepard’s work? It’s a creative field, if people didn’t critique and/or admire others, nothing would develop.

I happen to respect artists who openly give AND take criticism more so than those who lay back silently while all the art happens.

    Sheesh. Next piece.

  26. “There’s about ten people that talked shit about this print, why isn’t Daniel allowed to?”

I don’t think anyone said he wasn’t allowed to critique Shepard’s releases; in fact, I believe it was stated that it was his RIGHT to speak out. Surely we all read it the same… didn’t you?

That said, I think DD’s weekly (weakly?) comments are unseemly. And this is coming from someone who purchases his art.

Of course, I ounly FOUND DD’s art because I was into Shepard’s first and was pointed to DD in conversations with other OG collectors.

I suppose if DD was even close to being on Shepard’s radar, the left-handed compliments might be returned– but I seriously doubt it. I’ve never seen him slam another artist in public comments, even seriously crappy biters.

But hey– to each his own.

  27. I have also had my feelings hurt at one time or another by John A, philaarts, pjtaper, and piemel. I have never talked crap on anyone.

  28. cous: haha, good point. the store had to be rebuilt from scratch, which took some time. its close.

regardless, all of the above rah rah is sort of moot because if you read my comments about shep on this site (which you can do..), there really isnt any mean spirited shittalking or personal insults or outright ‘snide’ commentary that your typical internet basher wouldnt attach a name to. ill give you the helicopter thing, but even thats a stretch, because my last gigposter was similar style wise, and my last art print referenced helicopters, hence the joke. i say things like “good concept but… ” or “this could have been better had it not been rushed” or “this works”. ca77 is quasi implying im making personal attacks, but i mean, the posts are right there… i mean, hell, i went and reread them myself to see if ca77 had a point.

ive said this 100 times, but im a FAN of shep and his past work, and i recognize his impact on the design world. i have older prints of his on the walls of my bedroom, etc. but i am openly critical of his newer prints (as MANY people are), believing them to be half-hearted messes with careless mistakes that arent NEARLY up to his potential, possibly due to the strains of a unnecessary weekly-release schedule. my comments simply reflect my disappointment in the craftsmanship of recent prints in a fairly open and direct way. i do not apologize for that or think it wrong. plus, so far in this thread and most threads, im usually one of the only ones with a real name attached to my commentary. is shep untouchable because of his contributions to the art world? of course not, artists are supposed to discuss art with other artists, for better or for worse. and if i didnt care about someones art or the artist themselves, i wouldnt say anything at all.

  29. Amen.

  30. “is shep untouchable because of his contributions to the art world? of course not, artists are supposed to discuss art with other artists, for better or for worse.”

    I agree 100%.

Now, if you can explain to me how leaving your critique of Shepard’s art here, in one, two and three sentence comments on this blog, “OMG Posters!,” is having an actual discussion with Shepard about your views on his art, I’d appreciate it– because I don’t see Shepard here and I don’t see you having a “discussion” with him at all.

  31. Daniel Danger, I love you more than an albino person loves sunblock. Let’s hope the giant forum doesn’t get hold of this page. Don’t want to hear crap from them.

  32. because shepard isn’t all up on A.P.I.’s dick like DD.

  33. thats a fair point.

but sheps lack of presence doesnt negate a comment, which were made only as a comment on a blog where people talk about posters, in the same way my lack of presence on thegiant doesnt negate any of the negative remarks people have said about my work on there. its par for the course if youre an artist dealing with an internet audience, you wont always be around for every comment and discussion.

cous cous: even if the giant crowd was to read this, once again, my posts on his work on this site are “i really like sheps artwork, im just kinda sad that these latest prints dont seem to represent what hes truely capable of”, theyre not “shep sucks, hes a lame-o, lol, omg, this suxxx”.

williamburger: that joke didnt even make sense. do you even know what API is?

  34. Wow at this thread. Don’t even know what to say. Check your blood sugar and check it often.

  35. A) My real name is Stoney

    B) OMG, someone got their feelings hurt by pjtaper? That’s gotta be a joke.

  36. dd, if you want to make any sort of impact with your words, you should find a way to get them to Shep’s ear. I think he’d be more inclined to listed to an actual artist, than to one of us yahoos. I doubt Shep even knows about this site (no offense).

  37. I HAVE YET TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT I WILL BE BUYING THIS, I WILL KEEP YOU APPRISED OF MY DECISION.

  38. I, TOO, WILL BE SURE TO LET YOU ALL KNOW WHETHER I FEEL THIS PRINT IS WORTH PURCHASING. I HOPE YOU ALL WILL DO YOUR BEST TO TAKE HEED. THANK YOU.

  39. THE CAPS LOCK KEY IS QUITE POPULAR ON THIS SITE.

  40. will he purchase, won’t he purchase…the suspense is killing me! PLEASE LET US KNOW OF YOUR PURCHASING INTENTIONS ASAP! have mercy!

  41. The shits really gonna hit the fan when next weeks print “Andre the Giant has a Ghost Ship” is released….

  42. Why are people so angry here?

    E

  43. daniel danger, any idea on when your prints that crashed your server will go back online? thanks!

  44. Some cheese with that whine?

Try the Boursin – it’s great on rye crisps.

  45. Does the admin *really* know if that is actually Daniel Danger posting on this site?

  46. Yes, they are on computers side-by-side posting.

  47. That’s what I thought. I’m sitting right next to Dan McCarthy right now. He’s not too happy with the phone lines either.

  48. It’s really Daniel, he’s my friend, I talk to him.

  51. JUST A QUICK UPDATE, I AM STILL NOT SURE IF I WILL BE PURCHASING THIS. I AM LEANING IN THAT DIRECTION, THOUGH.

  52. ooooh someone else put power lines in their art!!!

    om my gawsh… they’re everywhere!!!

    http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=power+lines&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2

  53. can we change the name of this site to omgpowerlines.com?

  54. I DECIDED TO PURCHASE IT. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN IT ARRIVES.

  55. Beefloaf…thanks for informing us. Please take pics of it when you have it. Thanks

  56. Amazing that the print’s sold out already, considering how many people had so much sh!t to talk about it!

  57. FYI
when i was in art school about 15 years ago one of our projects was to incorporate powerlines into landscape designs, there was an entire class of prints like this, and that teacher did that same project every semester, no one is reinventing the wheel here

PS: I ALSO PURCHASED THIS PRINT

  58. Another crappy print by the Shep man. Its to bad he would rather crank out a print every week and let his art suffer than put time and effort into creating something good.

  59. Apparently enough people like them each week for them to sell out. How many other artists can say the same thing?

  60. And the propaganda machine rolls along….Get out of the way or you’re getting smashed!

  61. Its called “blind love” my friend

  62. Kinda like some people have with Jesus?

  63. Damn Stoney, that made me laugh. Thanks man
